How to get involved

The Stabilisation Unit is responsible for deploying a variety of people to hostile environments, including Civil Servants, police officers and civilian experts (non-Civil Servants).  These people provide much needed work on stabilisation across the globe.  There are various mechanisms for getting involved with our stabilisation work:

  • Joining the UK CSG ( 1 Article )

The CSG is made up of over 800 Deployable Civilian Experts (DCE) who are leaders in their specialist areas; and over 200 members of the Civil Service Stabilisation Cadre (Cadre).

  • Multilateral Deployments ( 2 Articles )

The UK supports international efforts to prevent violent conflict, to resolve existing conflicts, and to build peace in post-conflict situations.  In support of this through the FCO, the Stabilisation Unit seconds civilian experts and police (serving and retired officers) to a number of international missions run by the European Union (EU), United Nations (UN) and Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).  Please see the relevant sections of our website for more information on these roles.
