Responding to the situation in Libya

Stabilisation UnitAs the Government's centre of expertise and best practice in stabilisation, the Stabilisation Unit is contributing to the wider UK Government's response to the situation in Libya.

The Unit has been supporting a coordinated Government response on Libya, by facilitating cross-Whitehall planning workshops with the aim of helping to prevent further violence, protect people and promote democratic political processes.

The Stabilisation Unit has also offered assistance to British Embassies across North Africa and the Middle East and stands ready to rapidly deploy members of its 1,000 strong Civilian Stabilisation Group, where requested, to assist in areas such as stabilisation, governance, the rule of law, security sector reform, disarmament, policing and institutional reform.
