Jamal Abbasi is a SU deployed stabilisation advisor in the Sangin district of Helmand . He served in the 4th Battalion The Parachute Regiment for 5 years, before becoming a Royal Marine for 2 years. Jamal went on to study a Masters at the Post-war Reconstruction & Development Unit at the University of York.
After completing his Masters he trained as a stabilisation advisor and is now on his first deployment. See first hand what being a stabilisation advisor is all about as we follow his journey from packing his bag in the UK, to settling into his new home in a forward operating base in Helmand.
