Working in South Sudan

Watch Stabilisation Advisor, Phil Wetherill, as he shares his thoughts on his Stabilisation Unit deployment to the Warrup District of South Sudan. Phil works as part of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in South Sudan, where he's helping to try and improve the rule of law and infrastructure of the world's newest country. An engineer by trade and with extensive experience including working as a Stabilisation Advisor in Afghanistan, Phil is now using his considerable experience to help the people of South Sudan. In his report, Phil explains the challenges and rewards of his work in South Sudan, how it differs from his time in Afghanistan and explains the wide range of skills needed for the SU's Stabilisation Advisors to work in fragile and conflict affected states.
